As our community, and communities around the world, who were the baby boomers' generation's age, we have an unprecedented number of seniors, more than ever before, all around the world.
As families of eastern origin break down into nuclear families and then even further evolve into the concept of singular living, the need for this "nuclear" kind of housing has risen dramatically. But they have been devoid of the feeling of being connected to the rest of the community.
These two factors combined, together with the ever-increasing need for the youth to have a safe environment, has also increased. This has led to the creation of our unique center of building a Senior Living Community.
All these factors led to the creation of a self-sustaining senior community that will encompass all these needs.
The original idea of communal living has been transformed into singles our couples dwelling units, due to the detrimental effects of the COVID-virus on communal types of living concepts.
Therefore, we have developed a concept of having safe, well-protected living quarters for people of all races, creed religions, and genders. The residents of this community will be chosen according to different kinds of occupation that's needed for a self-sustaining community. We will choose individuals who have had formal and life experience with all the different aspects of work ranging from hairdressers, plumbers, electricians, welders, doctors, police, lawyers, dentists, counselors, teachers, etc.
Although the people living there will be seniors, we will then have young volunteers who will intern to learn the skills that will be taught by the residents who live there. These interns will help, not only in the maintenance of the center itself, but we will provide a concept of neighbor helping neighbor for these much needed skills.
In this way, we will be able to self-sustain our own community, and we will then venture out to neighbors and help them grow gardens of food and create a barter-system for each other. This will also be in the form of internship.
We will also have two cows and two horses on the premises to be taken care of. The cows will provide dairy products and the horses will be used for patrolling the center and the neighborhood.
The youth from the school very nearby will be provided with after-school care/education, which will be given for free by the seniors living in our center. This will comprise of formal and informal education in terms of life lessons that the seniors have had experience with.
The kids will also be taught physical activities, meditation, sports, and a concept that we have created which is a combination of scouting and self-defense - Gatka.
Our horses will be used to patrol through the community, thereby building goodwill, and also to provide information about our center's programs, and in this way we will educate everyone about what we are doing.
Our goal is to make this work in such a way that the need for similar concepts will be recognized and duplicated throughout the world.
